Many Collaboratiave family law cases include the participation of professionals other than the lawyers. These professionals comprise the "team." These professionals may include a Process Facilitator, a Financial Professional, and child specialist, appraiser, or another lawyer with expertise in a particular area of law releveant to the divorce case. One of the firm's clients, who did not want to be divorced, entered into the Collaborative process. At the recent conclusion of the client's Collaborative divorce, the client wrote to Tom Ausley: "The barn burned down and I can see the moon." The Collaborative process, while not easy, provides clients with the opportunity to get to the other side of their divorce with their dignity intact and with hope for the future.

This past August, the firm's lawyers attended the Advanced Family Law Course in Dallas. One of the speakers, Guhan Subramanian, spoke on the topic of interest-based negotiation. Subramanian is a tenured Harvard law and business school professor and one of our country's experts on the subject of negotiations.
CLI-TX's board of trustees met in Austin yesterday and today. The board reviewed progress on goals set last year and also created new goals for the upcoming year. By far, the biggest project tackled by CLI-TX last year was a complete remodel of its website.
