This process allows a judge to hear the evidence and to make a ruling on all issues presented. This is a public trial held at the courthouse in the county where the lawsuit is filed. A trial is a last resort in most instances and it occurs after temporary orders are in place, all discovery has been completed, and mediation and any other type of negotiation has failed. A judge will rule and make all decisions affecting the parties. This is the most expensive process–both emotionally and financially-available to parties.
