This process allows the parties to choose and pay for a private “judge” or arbitrator to hear the evidence and to make a ruling on all issues presented. This process looks similar to a trial, but it is private and usually does not take place at a courthouse. Often an arbitration will occur after temporary orders are in place, all discovery has been completed, and the parties want an individual to make all the decisions in their case.
