Kris Algert is a collaborative lawyer whose family law practice focuses exclusively on the collaborative family law process. She believes the collaborative process allows couples to maximize their options and to maintain their dignity during divorce.
She began her legal career clerking for Judge Woodie Jones of the Third Court of Appeals in Austin, Texas. Since 1991, Kris has practiced law with Tom Ausley. She became a partner of Ausley & Algert in 1998.
Kris has attended basic, intermediate, advanced and interdisciplinary collaborative trainings and mediation training. Since 2003, Kris has conducted collaborative law trainings throughout Texas for other lawyers, mental health professionals and financial professionals interested in participating in collaborative law cases. She is a founding member of the groups Collaborative Law Institute of Texas and Professionals for Collaborative Family Law. Currently, Kris serves as a trustee on the board of the Collaborative Law Institute of Texas.
